It was a long flight, but crew & journey were good.
Arrived in Buenos Aires on time Friday and met by Hx reps who transported to the hotel. Lots of couples but one other solo female who I got chatting to and were staying at the same hotel - The Emporador
After arriving at the hotel, I went to Hx hospitality desk to get information for tomorrow morning's flight and arrangements. They had space to join an afternoon city tour, so I signed up.
Left the hotel at 3.30pm and first stop was the cemetery where Eva Peron (Evita) is buried. The cemetery had hundreds of mausoleums of rich and famous families. Evita died early of cancer so is buried with her family not her husbands.
From the cemetery we went to the main square where the presidential government building is which has the balcony where Evita made her famous speech.
Other monuments to the 'missing' (a period of history where people were gathered up, taken away and never seen again. The story goes that they were taken out by plane over the Atlantic ocean and dropped from the plane).
The square also contains the church where Pope Francis was bishop of BA before becoming pope.
From here we went to Boco where there are lots of brightly coloured buildings and drove past Boco Juniors football stadium where Maradona trained as a child.
Great whistle-stop tour!
After sorting out luggage ready to leave outside room for collection, I went for dinner with Lucy and had the most delicious steak.
Great first afternoon
