There is so much science going on here and so much to get involved with.
Before I left home I had signed up to take part in projects for 2 guest scientists from the University of Groningen.
The first is entitled 'Valuing time in Antarctica' and is looking at motivations, expectations and the emotional and behavioural impact of visiting. On you as individuals but on communities and when you get back and advocate for Antarctica.
The second involves journaling daily your thoughts and feelings to assess the impact on you.
I have also attended workshops on the weather, rocks and geology, photography and there will be more throughout. Tomorrow I'm going to one on penguins.
I also attended a citizen science workshop on clouds and cloud observation and this is led my NASA. I am now officially a NASA citizen scientist! I have an app now to report cloud observations and not just from Antarctica but all over the world. David, the weatherman, is teaching us how to identify different types and report them to NASA.
I've also signed up to help the onboard scientists by going out on a science boat. Don't know yet what that will involve but will be interesting I'm sure
