Science boat

Thursday 27th November

Been out on the science boat this morning to measure and collect samples of plankton to feed into worldwide data gathering on the health of phyto and zoo plankton. Learnt that over 50% of the oxygen on earth comes from phyto plankton so it's vital we preserve the clean oceans especially in the polar regions where most is found. I loved how she described breathing - the left lung fills with oxygen from the trees and the right with oxygen from the seas. I'll remember that!

Will get to see it all under the microscope later.

We were followed by penguins, albatross, comorants and terns- they must've thought we were fishing 😁
