We left the Falklands heading West back towards Ushuaia, Argentina. The westerly winds were strong and we were sailing directly into them, so made for some interesting movements around the ship 😀
It was nice to not get up so early this morning and get more rest, even if I didn't get more sleep.
Lots to still do on board today, from practical things like handing your boots back in and packing 😢 to more learning opportunities.
There was a talk from ORCA charity representative onboard (Tony) about whales & dolphins.
Final focus group with Zdenka - the guest scientist who's study i am part of. It was great to discuss the contrast between Antarctica and the Falklands. We also discussed how had HX lived up to expectations given we had all chosen them for their focus on environment, sustainable tourism and ethos.
Handed my journal back to Liz - the other guest scientist- and had a debrief with her about how emotional the trip had been for me.
I treated myself to a back and shoulder massage which was lovely but really felt it afterwards.
The captain and expectation team did a goodbye session and the photographer did a screenshow of the expedition as he had captured it. Was amazing to reflect on the whole journey.
We had left West Point early because a low pressure storm was coming in, so instead of arriving in Ushuaia during the night, we actually docked in the evening and were allowed to go ashore.
I googled a good place for a goodbye drink at the end of the world and a few of us headed out to toast our voyage together as new friends.
The walk back to the ship was hilarious. It was so windy we were being blown down the hill, but the best was yet to come!
As we go onto the quay the wind was so strong we were being blown all over the place and waves were lapping we got soaked. We laughed so hard it almost hurt 😂 Thankfully we made it back!
